GUIDE · UPLOAD YOUR FILES

Prepare your Instagram export.

Upload your supported Instagram JSON, HTML or ZIP relationship files and see who is in following but not followers. Comparison runs on your device without a required account label, source date or confirmation.

Use the official export controls

Open Instagram’s official information-export guide and follow the instructions for your account. Meta describes the information-download tools in its Accounts Center announcement. Any account authentication belongs on Meta’s own website or app.

Prepare files the checker can read

  1. Use the account you own or manage. Confirm the selected profile before preparing its information.
  2. Use JSON or HTML relationship files. Where export controls offer information categories, choose followers and following. ZIP downloads and nested relationship folders are supported; unrelated archive media is not expanded.
  3. Include both directions and all parts. Supported names includefollowers_1.json, additional numbered follower parts, and following.json. Keep split files together. Select an all-time date range where the official controls offer one; a limited range may be unsuitable for establishing absence.
  4. Keep the source date if known. Do not substitute the date you opened or imported the ZIP. Leave an unknown collection date blank.
  5. Select all relevant files together. Choose loose JSON/HTML files or ZIP downloads from the same export, then compare. Dates and account labeling are optional; no completeness checkbox blocks your results.

Understand the comparison scope

Uploaded lists are the working dataset. “Not following you back” means an account appears in the uploaded following list but not followers. If known parts or records are missing, the report uses a qualified “Not found in supplied followers” label and includes the limitations in downloads. It does not certify Instagram’s current state.

If the export does not work

Keep the original files. Read the checker’s specific error before changing anything. Do not rename unrelated JSON to a follower filename or remove malformed records to force a report. A fresh supported export may be needed when formats change.
